I haven’t been watching much of the Olympics. I get sucked in when I walk into the room and the kids are watching gymnastics or swimming. The other night, I caught a puff piece about Kerry Strug’s amazing vault (with torn ligaments in her leg) in the Atlanta games. Of course, it had me surreptitiously dabbing at my eyes. Night before last, I was fortunate to catch Oscar Pistorius’s inspiring performance in the 400m semi-final and see the touching exchange of bib numbers instigated by race winner Kirani James. Yesterday, I stumbled onto this lovely portrait of mentorship taken by Andy Hooper, and I haven’t been able to close the tab on my browser.
